Phil Johnson, MD

Prior to assuming his current role at Interius, Phil was the founding CSO, President, and Interim CEO of Limelight Bio from 2016 to 2020. For the 3 preceding decades, he led large research enterprises at 2 of the world’s premier academic pediatric hospitals while receiving multiple national honors, including election to the American Pediatric Society and being named a Fellow of both the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Academy of Microbiology.

Phil received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina and then completed a pediatrics residency and infectious disease fellowship training at Vanderbilt University and the National Institutes of Health. He is considered an international leader in viral vector technology and human gene transfer.
